International House announced the appointment of Emily Wakeling as its new Vice President of Development, Alumni Relations and Communications. Wakeling will lead all private and public fundraising efforts, Alumni Engagement activities and communications strategy, including branding, public relations, web presence and social media.
Wakeling comes to International House from Catalyst Inc., a New York-based global nonprofit that helps accelerate progress for women through workplace inclusion. She served as the Executive Director of Global Membership and Emerging Markets where she drove fundraising strategy, and lead corporate gift cultivation, support and stewardship for over 16 years, quadrupling unrestricted funds for the organization. Prior to Catalyst, Wakeling worked as lead development associate and manager of the Help-Line for National Organization for Women NYC.
“Emily is a highly accomplished senior development executive with consistent financial successes in corporate donor relations, major gift campaigns, international market expansion, innovation, and external relations and partnerships.” said International House President Calvin Sims. “With a long track record of exceptional fundraising achievement and a deep understanding of nonprofit leadership and management, she will further our position as an institution of the future, developing the highest caliber of global leaders.”
Adam Quinton, Chair of the Board Committee on Development and Alumni Relations said, “We are delighted and excited to have Emily on the executive team. She brings a proven track record in fund raising and building strong external connections. Her commitment to the goal of developing diverse leaders over many years aligns perfectly with our mission at I House and she brings a global perspective too.”
Wakeling earned her Masters in liberal studies at the City of New York Graduate Center and her bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Principia College.
