Thank you for your interest in alumni membership. By making a gift to
the House at the membership level or higher, you will receive benefits
that will help keep you connected with the House. You will also gain
satisfaction from lending your support to the I-House mission of
promoting friendship and goodwill among people of different backgrounds
and culture.
Membership Benefits
Access:
Membership allows you access to the House between 8:00am and 4:00am the following day.
Events:
Alumni members may attend certain non-invitation events and programs
such as cultural hours, ballroom dancing and summer socials. A limited
number of tickets for other events such as Sunday Suppers (fee ticket)
and speaker programs are offered based on space availability. Alumni
interested in these events should call (212) 316-8625 to purchase
tickets or to confirm availability. When space is limited for program
events, priority will be given to resident members and alumni members
may be placed on a waiting list. Members will receive a monthly email
announcing programs.
Gymnasium:
Alumni members may only attend scheduled activities, as listed by the
Programs Office, in the Frohlich Gymnasium.
Policies and Limitations
Conduct:
As with any member of our community, alumni members are asked to abide
by all applicable policies and procedures regarding conduct that are
stated in the International House Community Guide (located on our
website). Alumni members are asked to remember that International
House's facilities and activities are first and foremost for the benefit
of resident members and that residents are given priority for all
programs, facilities and services.
Public Areas:
Alumni members may use most public areas, but are not allowed to sleep
in public areas of I-House or leave their belongings unattended in these
areas. Due to space limitations, alumni
membership does not include access to the resident floors (unless signed
in and accompanied by a current resident member), Computer Lab, the
Frohlich Fitness Center, Bike Room, Music Practice Rooms or the
Community Kitchen.
Programs:
Alumni members may not attend particular programs or events that have
been designated as exclusive to resident members. These include
community weekends, orientation events, the New York City Performances
Program, board and speaker receptions (except by invitation of the
Development & Alumni Relations Office only) and resident floor
events and parties. Membership does not include access to the resident
online community.
Access:
Please swipe your valid International House-issued alumni photo ID at
the electronic scanner located next to each of our entrances. The
receptionist will verify your identity and unlock the door for you. You
must then present your ID to the receptionist, who will retain it and
return it to you upon your departure from the building. Any expired IDs
will be confiscated at entry.
Guests:
Alumni members may sign in one guest per visit. Guests are required to
leave a photo ID at the front desk which will be retained upon entry and
returned upon departure. We request that alumni members accompany their
guests at all times and inform them of the rules and regulations of
I-House. All guests must depart before or when their hosts leave the
premises.
Please note any infringements to these rules may result in revocation of
membership without refund.
