"I would have to travel the world to meet the people I come home to every day at I. House"

Leadership Training Programs

International House offers a variety of leadership training programs open to resident members each year. These professional development opportunities aim to facilitate intercultural experiences and provide ways to explore leadership theory and practice. Selected participants have access to a wide variety of educational experiences which include retreats, classroom-style workshops, training sessions and networking opportunities.

The programs devote special attention to topics such as public speaking, motivating groups, identifying personal leadership styles, conflict management, and cross-cultural communication. Formal training sessions and theoretical discussions are enhanced by the many international perspectives on leadership through participant interaction. Additionally, the participants have opportunities to apply their enhanced skills in the rich multicultural setting of International House.

Resident members are encouraged to apply for merit-based fellowships or scholarships which enable them to participate in programs such as:

Participants at a leadership training seminar tackling a teambuilding exercise.

  • The International Leaders Program (ILP) offers leadership training to residents who have been awarded a variety of fellowships/scholarships within the I. House community such as Resident Fellow, Cinema Fellow and Residents’ Council member.
