"I would have to travel the world to meet the people I come home to every day at I. House"

Resident Support Services

The Resident Support Services team plays an integral role in fostering a sense of community at I. House.

International House, through the Office of Programs & Resident Life, offers community members access to a wide variety of support services.  A Resident Support Services (RSS) Team, which consists of a Resident Social Worker, three Peer Counselor Fellows, and twenty-one Resident Fellows are available to assist resident members with any concerns s/he might have while living at International House.

International House has a part-time, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in residence. As a Programs Office staff member, she works with the various
International House departments to provide a comprehensive support service. The LCSW supervises the Peer Counselor Fellows and Resident Fellows, offers short-term counseling, referral and mediation services, assists in emergencies of a psychological nature, and oversees the monthly RSS team training meetings.

The Peer Counselor Fellows (PCFs) provide information, referrals, and short -term counseling to International House resident members. Peer Counselors are resident members themselves with significant human service and counseling training. A Resident Fellow (RF) is assigned to each floor of International House. The RF is available to answer any question, organize social activities on the floor, and assure general comfort. In sum, the RFs aim to foster community interaction and help resident members to take full advantage of the wide array of resources available within the International House community.

Counseling Services

The Peer Counselor Fellows and the Resident Social Worker are available 24 hours per day to assist you with your overall health and well-being. They have extensive training in various areas including, but not limited to mental health and suicide, sexual assault and harassment, sexual health, substance abuse, crisis-management, stress management and conflict resolution. By request, they can provide resident members with information and/or referrals for outside services.

The Resident Support Services (RSS) team at I. House encourages residents to be actively involved with the community, and helps resident members make new friends and develop natural supports for use here and in the future.
