Special Events
Each year, International House organizes at least one special event to raise funds for the core resources and services that today’s residents rely on to make the most of their I. House experiences. Resident scholarships, leadership training activities, visiting speaker programs and other international community-building initiatives are all supported by the generous donors who participate in these events.
The House’s signature special event, the Harry Edmonds Awards Gala, will take place in the spring of 2011. Held once every two years, the Edmonds Gala recognizes the outstanding achievements of individuals and corporations committed to advancing cross-cultural understanding and cooperation. Previous recipients have included Chairman Paul A. Volcker,
Tatsuro Toyoda '58,
Leontyne Price '52 and Anna-Maria and the late Stephen M. Kellen.
On June 11, 2010 International House held its
2010 Scholarship Fund Benefit, an evening of tributes to past International House Board Chairmen Henry A. Kissinger and John C. Whitehead by current Chairman Paul A. Volcker and I-House Trustee Fareed Zakaria. Held at The Playhouse on the grounds of the Rockefeller Estate in Westchester County, the event raised a record-breakng $455,000.
