International House has a selective admissions policy that brings together 700 resident members from more than 100 countries (including 1/3 from the United States) each year.Resident members are normally 21 years of age or older and are defined by International House as:
Resident Membership Application
Alumni of International House are those former resident members who lived at the House for at least thirty consecutive days. Their I. House experience has helped shape their personalities and professions and provided a lifelong network of remarkable friends committed to promoting cross-cultural understanding. Alumni remain connected to the House through events, the online community, publications like the World Newsletter, and by assisting the House with its recruitment, networking and fundraising goals. With a gift at the membership level, alumni can receive a 12 month photo ID that gives them access to the House and the ability to participate in many of its programs. Open to benefactors of International House, making either a financial or other contribution to the promotion of its purposes. Friends Members shall be appointed by the President or shall be elected by a majority vote of the Board for a term fixed by the President or by the Board. Donors who give $125 or more and submit a referral from an I-House staff, resident, alumni or trustee member, may receive a 12 month photo ID that gives them access to the House and the ability to participate in many of its programs. Non-Resident To qualify for Non-Resident membership, you must be 21 years of age and a full-time graduate student, intern, trainee or visiting scholar/researcher. All non-resident membership applications are subject to approval by the Admissions Committee of International House. Once approved, Non-Resident members have access to the House and the ability to participate in many of its programs. All Non-Resident Members must register every semester with the Admissions Office to have their ID card validated for the semester. All Non-Resident Members must meet the eligibility requirements for the duration of membership and reapply upon expiration of their membership. Honorary members shall be elected by the Board of Trustees for a term fixed by the Board.
