High Performance Masterclass: Tackling Procrastination and Social Media Addiction

by Paritosh Joshi

This past week, I had the privilege of going to a masterclass led by I-House resident Lea Bochtler which focused on tackling procrastination and social media addiction while also detailing how to create and implement an effective daily routine. Lea’s session was led extremely well, and I discovered many valuable lessons that I can apply towards my own life. Most importantly, the class made me feel empowered to make changes and believe in my own ability to perform at a higher level — especially given the journey that Lea went through to get to where she is today.

One of the key pieces of advice mentioned within the presentation was the need to have an “accountability partner” to ensure another person can assist in holding yourself responsible for following through on certain tasks, which could be supplemented by using a reward/consequence system for completing tasks as well. Another critical tip that Lea mentioned was the need to plan out one’s day by writing down one’s tasks the night before. This also included a strong plan when one wakes up the next day, such as using an alarm clock instead of a phone and keeping the device out of arm’s reach to ensure that one gets out of bed to turn off the alarm. In addition, it was emphasized to not check one’s phone during the first thirty minutes after waking, and then executing one’s tasks throughout the day to be able to relax guilt-free at night.

I would definitely attend another session similar to this one! The masterclass inspired me to want to form a community with other individuals looking to elevate their performance and produce strong results in their personal and professional lives.
