On Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018, International House hosted its Annual Gala at the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center in New York, bringing together honorees, trustees, donors, Alumni and Residents. During the event, four renowned leaders were honored for their contributions in advancing the International House mission.
Noteworthy guests included Mr. Ronnie Chan, Hong Kong real estate entrepreneur, and Mrs. Ayako Toyoda, the widow of the late Mr. Tatsuro Toyoda. who resided at International House from 1956 to 1958.
International House is a vibrant, inclusive residence, which hosts Masters and PhD students from all around the world, currently counting 97 nationalities. International House also offers select residents financial assistance to live at International House through the Welcome Fund and other financial assistance programs. The Welcome Fund was launched in response to recent restrictions on immigration and showcases the open and inclusive spirit of International House. One of the recipients of the Welcome Fund, a Syrian resident who headed the World Food Program’s efforts in Aleppo, spoke at the annual gala and shared his story with the audience.
The event also saw an auction with a selection of extraordinary gifts granted to International House by various donors, and throughout the evening, guests enjoyed music from the Grammy nominated band, Moment NYC.
