Join Us to Create a Virtual Candlelight Sunday Supper!
One of the most special times of the year is when we all gather together for a final Sunday Supper to celebrate Residents graduating from International House NYC. An important element in this Supper is a candle lighting ceremony, which begins when one candle is lit and is passed between Residents, quickly illuminating Davis Hall. The ceremony honors the friendships and memories you’ve made during your time as a Resident member and welcomes you to the Alumni community, which continues to carry the I-House Spirit across the globe by embodying the I-House mission and values.
As a way to connect across the various places in the world, we are calling on the members of the I-House community to help commemorate the cherished memories of the past year by recording your own video!
In late May, we will release a video that showcases the videos we’ve received in order to celebrate the Candlelight Sunday Supper ceremony virtually.
Here are some simple steps on how to record your video from I-House’s AV Tech, Andrea DeLuca.
To participate, follow these 3 easy steps to record your video:
- Start the video while a candle is completely covering the screen of the camera.
- Move the candle away from the screen of the camera and hold it as you recite the I-House Pledge. (The pledge is below, in English; we encourage you to recite in the language of your choice!)
- When you finish the Pledge, bring the candle forward to fill the screen of the camera again and hit “stop.”
Simply click on the “+” to add your video. (Tip: For best results, use the Chrome Browser. If this link doesn’t work, copy the URL to a browser to upload.)
Entries will be accepted until May 3rd.
If you experience any technical issues, please feel free to reach out to the Programs Team at email@example.com.
Thank you and we look forward to your submission!
The International House Pledge
As light begets light,
So love, friendship and goodwill
Are passed from one to another.
We who have come from many
Nations to live in one fellowship
At International House, promise
One another to pass the light
Wherever we go.
