Each floor of I-House South has two separate bathroom facilities, one for men and one for women. Each bathroom has four stalls and four showers. In I-House North each apartment has its own bathroom.
In I-House South (single occupancy dorm rooms) there are 10 floors with approximately 70 resident members on most floors. In I-House North (apartments) there are 12 floors.
There is a Resident kitchen located near the Dining Room that is equipped with a stove, oven, microwave and limited utensils, but no refrigerator. Resident members pay a semester fee if they wish to use the kitchen.
All Resident members pay a daily fee ($5.50 per day) for the length of their stay for credit in the Dining Room. Each time the resident purchases something, the amount spent is deducted from their account. No refunds are given for unused credit. During the semester, additional amounts may be added to the account if the Resident wishes. Items purchased in the cafeteria are itemized, but in general, breakfast may cost $3-$4, lunch $5-$7, and dinner $7-$10.
Resident members may keep a small refrigerator in their rooms, although we do not provide them. Electrical appliances such as microwaves, coffee pots or irons are not permitted due to the fire hazard they pose. Microwaves are available in several common areas throughout the House. Ironing boards are provided in our laundry rooms.
The rooms do not come equipped with air conditioners. If Resident members want to bring their own air-conditioner, they must have the Facilities Management Office approve and install it. There is an installation/removal fee of $55 and additional monthly cost for electricity of $60 for I-House South and $80 for I-House North. The monthly fee begins the first day of the month of installation and continues until the air conditioner is removed by Facilities Management.
Couples are eligible to live together in a studio or one-bedroom apartment in I-House North only. If only one applicant meets the eligibility requirements, applicants must submit verification of marital or domestic partnership status. Both parties must submit applications for admission, but only one application fee is required
Resident members are allowed one overnight guest at a time in their room for a maximum of 6 nights in a 30-night period. Please see the full Guest Policy for details.
