May 20 to August 14
International House offers a welcoming community of approximately 700 students and interns from around the globe. Opportunities for professional and personal growth abound; through a variety of programs and activities within the House, Summer Residents are challenged to share and explore the wide diversity of opinion and experiences found across the I-House community. The daily interactions, along with our exclusive summer programming, help build the core values of Respect, Empathy and Moral Courage that characterize the I-House Experience.
Summer interns, students and scholars looking for safe, flexible summer housing in New York City and an immersive experience of fun and globally-minded leadership training are encouraged to apply.
During the summer, I-House programs are planned to build community among the Residents. The events planned are designed to get Residents acquainted with each other and with New York City. You never have to explore NYC alone!
Last summer Residents enjoyed ice cream socials, salsa dancing classes, kayaking on the Hudson River, many evenings dining with new friends at local restaurants, movie nights, and a barbecue.

As I-House approaches its centennial in 2024, we are working on a new project that will modernize our facilities and allow us to better serve the mission of International House for years to come. The project’s centerpiece, scheduled to begin construction in summer 2020, will be the addition of a new eight-story building on Claremont Avenue. The new building will include resident rooms, a rooftop garden and a student commons area called “The Hub,” which will provide a new social focus for the campus.
We will remain fully operational during construction. Both I-House North and South will be open and all amenities will be available for full use. Programming will also be as robust as always. Construction activity will take place Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.
