Kenneth “Kenny” Cortez, 29, is from the small city of Cusco in Peru. He studied law in his home country and came to New York to do a Masters degree in International Affairs. He chose to study in New York because he “wanted a higher level of education than my country cannot provide.” He received his Masters from The New School in May 2017 and is now interning with the United Nations Office of Genocide Prevention.
