2018 Modernization to Elevator #1
Elevator #1 modernization program has commenced on Monday, January 22th. Elevator #1, which is located at the West Wing, will be taken out of service for approximately 12 weeks. Work will be done from 7:00am until 3:00pm.
During this time, the elevator car will be upgraded with all new call panel equipment, brakes, rollers, motors and cables as part of a complete modernization project. These upgrades are required by NYC Department of Buildings due to recent changes within the elevator building code. Please be advised that the elevator modernization will consist of noise and shaft echoes throughout the day.
Once Car # 1 is part of our ongoing infrastructure modernization.
We expect elevator #1 to complete by August 1st.
Thank you in advance for your patience while we continue to upgrade the I-House infrastructure for your safety and convenience.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Steven Colabella at ext. 8497 or Eddie Nieves at ext. 8498.

Be aware of some of the key policies all Residents should know:
Resident members of International House are carefully selected by the Admissions Committee to create a diverse community that is committed to the ideals of cross-cultural exchange, friendship, tolerance, empathy, moral courage and respect. As a Resident of the I-House community, you are not a tenant and International House is not a landlord. You are a member of a community devoted to a mission. International House is a non-profit organization in which all Residents are substantially subsidized by philanthropic contributions to supplement Resident Fees. Community life is different than living independently—each Resident Member has duties and responsibilities to others in the community. Understanding and respect for community norms and practices, along with some degree of compromise in the face of individual desires, is required.
