Virtual Cooking Masterclass with Chef Hannah Wong, Founder of Haema BK

This event has passed. Residents: Receive a Free Kit of Ingredients if You RSVP by noon on Wednesday, April 14! Get ready for your next culinary adventure as we welcome Chef Hannah Wong, previously the chef of Michelin-recognized Van Da and now owner of Brooklyn-based HAEMA BK. Chef Hannah will show you to how to make hand-pulled noodles (also called lamian in Chinese) with bok choy and XO sauce. This unique method of making noodles originated in China, where hand-pulled noodles are traditionally served on Lunar New Year to symbolize a long life ahead. In addition to a live cooking demo, Chef Hannah will share how her identity, journey, and passions inform her fight for a more expansive and equitable vision of the culinary field and beyond. Participants will also have a chance to learn about two organizations that Chef Hannah is involved in: The Level Up Project, a virtual education initiative and network of individuals committed to removing systemic barriers, and Heart of Dinner, a non-profit combating food insecurity and isolation in New York City’s elderly Asian American community. We encourage everyone to join us and cook along and prepare this special Friday night meal. If you would like to cook along with Chef Hannah and current I-House residents, sign up to receive the Zoom link and the list of ingredients you will need. I-House is providing current residents with a free kit of ingredients, but you can purchase similar items from your local grocery store.
