I-House New York Congratulates the International House Association

In October, a consortium of global International Houses announced the launch of a new International House Association (IHA), a nonprofit focused on advancing peacebuilding, global citizenship, and intercultural leadership. Current IHA membership includes representation from the International Houses at UC Berkeley and the University of Chicago, International House of Japan, and International Students House (ISH) in London.

I-House New York is not a member of IHA at this time, as we are still evaluating how IHA complements the existing consortium, International Houses Worldwide (IHWW). I-House New York remains a founding and active member of IHWW, which also includes the International Houses at Berkeley and Chicago, ISH in London, and others.

“We congratulate the founding members of the International House Association and wish them well in these early days of their new charter,” said President & CEO Sebastian Fries. “I-House New York recently celebrated its centennial and we see huge opportunities to continue strengthening our organization as we enter our second century. That effort requires our full focus for the foreseeable future. We admire the IHA’s desire to spread the founding principles of International House, and we look forward to continuing our strong partnerships with International Houses across the globe.”

Alumni of I-House New York may receive social media messages or emails about IHA in the future. Please note that IHA is not affiliated with I-House New York and that donations to IHA will not benefit our I-House community.
