Alcohol and Illegal Drug Policy

The following are prohibited at I-House under I-House policy and New York State law:

  1. Possession and/or use of alcoholic beverages at I-House by anyone under 21
  2. Possession, use and/or distribution of illegal drugs
  3. Distribution of alcohol to minors 
  4. Manufacture of alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs
  5. Bringing outside alcohol to the Pub and/or Game Room
  6. Excepted at I-House sponsored events that adhere to I-House regulations, the consumption of alcohol or marijuana in the I-House common areas, including, but not limited to the Main Lounge, Dining Hall, Map Room, Dodge Room, Home Room, HR Commons, Study Center, Computer Lab, South Building Common Areas/Lounges.

Those engaging of any of the above is a violation of membership in good standing, and may face disciplinary action, including termination of Resident Membership.

Alcohol and consumable marijuana (i.e. not smoked) may be consumed by those 21 years and older only in the following locations:

  • The Pub
  • The Game Room while the Pub is in operation
  • I-House sponsored events that adhere to I-House regulations
  • Private rooms with doors closed

Resident members found in violation of the alcohol & illegal drug policy, as stated above, will face penalties and possible termination of Resident Membership. Automatic fines are as follows after a verbal warning:

  • 1st Offense – Resident will be fined $100.00
  • 2nd Offense – Resident will be fine $200.00
  • 3rd Offense – Resident’s membership to I House will be terminated immediately

I-House reserves the right to impose further disciplinary action for violations of this policy in accordance with its other rules and policies.
